Shruti Gupta Kasana

Shruti is a multidisciplinary Indian artist and cultural entrepreneur whose work is deeply rooted in India’s rich artistic heritage while engaging confidently with contemporary global narratives. With a practice that spans fine art, textile art and mixed media, her work explores memory, materiality, identity and transformation.
Shruti holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the University of Kanpur, a Master’s degree in Fashion Design from NIFT Mumbai, and an MBA from Symbiosis, Pune. A rare combination that allows her to seamlessly bridge creativity with curatorial vision and institutional leadership.
Shruti began her professional journey in the world of fashion, where art and design were intrinsically intertwined. However, her return to painting, her first creative love ,marked the beginning of a renewed and deeply personal artistic evolution. Her canvases are layered, tactile and emotionally resonant, often combining acrylics, mixed media, jute, embroidery, hand knitting and tapestry techniques. While figurative at heart, her work resists strict categorization, existing instead at the intersection of tradition and experimentation.
A strong advocate of sustainability in art, Shruti’s current practice focuses on jute, a 100% biodegradable fiber. Through a research-driven collaboration with textile manufacturers in Dhaka, she pioneered a unique jute-cotton eco-canvas, engineered specifically for fine art. This initiative. The Jute Sustainable Front ,reflects her commitment to environmentally conscious creativity without compromising artistic integrity.
Her work has been showcased across India and internationally, including Bangladesh, London and Dubai and is recognized for its distinctive voice, tactile beauty and cultural depth.
As Founder and Director of SGK Galerie, Shruti curates with the same sensitivity she brings to her art, championing diverse voices, meaningful narratives and contemporary expressions rooted in authenticity. For her, art is not static or decorative; it is a living dialogue, woven, painted and felt.
